Terms and Conditions

Are your artworks made to order?

Yes. All artworks are produced as bespoke, made-to-order goods. Each print forms part of a limited edition run (for example, 1 of 200 or 1 of 400) and is created specifically in response to an order.

Prints are not held in stock. When an order is placed, the next available edition number in the sequence is printed, hand packaged, and dispatched. Edition numbers are allocated in chronological order of purchase. For example, an early customer may receive 1 of 200, while a later customer may receive 32 of 200.

Because prints are produced and numbered in this sequential manner, specific edition numbers cannot be requested or reserved.

What does “made to order” mean for my purchase?

Once an order is placed, your artwork enters our production and fulfilment workflow. Because each item is produced specifically for you, orders are treated as final once payment has been received.

- - -

Are the prints archival?

My fine art prints are designed to last, and are only printed on the finest archival fine art papers using processes that maintain the details of my work. You will not be disappointed; the print is breath-taking and holds the highest details that are contained in the artwork.

- - -

What happens if my print arrives and has been damaged in the post?

If a print gets damaged in transit, we will replace it free of charge.

To authorise a replacement, we require clear photo evidence of the damage along with a photo of the shipping label. Photos can be emailed to jamescookartworkshop@gmail.com alongside a full name, email address, order date and order number. This documentation is necessary so that we can submit a damage claim.

- - -

Can I cancel or change my order after placing it?

Due to the bespoke, made-to-order nature of our products, cancellations, chargebacks, or alterations to an order are not possible once payment has been completed. This includes changes to size, format, edition, or artwork selection. We are also unable to accept returns.

However, if your print arrives damaged in transit, or in the very unlikely event that it arrives with a manufacturing defect, we will replace it free of charge.

- - -

Can I change my delivery address after ordering?

Address changes may be possible only if the following conditions are met:

  • The order has not yet entered fulfilment or has been dispatched
  • The request is received and confirmed by us before posting

Once an artwork has been dispatched, no changes to the delivery address or order details can be made.

- - -

Why do UK customers pay tax on their purchase at checkout?

James Cook Artwork is a private limited company. Therefore, we are required to charge 20% VAT at Checkout to UK customers.

- - -

Are the prints exempt from US tariffs?

My prints are exempt from the all US tariffs that have recently come into effect.

- - -

What happens once my artwork has been dispatched?

Once dispatched, the order is considered complete from a fulfilment perspective. At this stage:

  • Delivery details cannot be altered
  • The order cannot be cancelled or recalled
  • Responsibility transfers to the courier in accordance with their delivery terms

Where can I contact you with questions before ordering?

We are always happy to help clarify details before purchase. Please email James at jamescookartwork@gmail.com Thank you.

How long will my order take to arrive?

All artworks are produced to order. Fulfilment times apply before shipping, as each piece is individually printed, framed where applicable, and carefully packaged by hand.

Standard dispatch targets are as follows:

  • Print-only orders: typically dispatched within 1–2 working days of order acceptance
  • Framed prints: typically dispatched within 10 working days

These dispatch targets align with The Print Space who are the fulfilment team for print-based orders. For more information, see here.

Please note that dispatch times may vary depending on the size of the artwork or the complexity of the framing. As an independent business producing bespoke work by hand, we kindly ask for your patience while your artwork is prepared with care.

In most cases, orders are dispatched and delivered within 4 weeks. In rare circumstances, delivery may take up to 8 weeks, for example during peak seasonal periods such as Christmas, when production volumes are higher and courier networks experience increased demand.

We strongly recommend placing orders in advance of seasonal holidays, special occasions, or birthdays to avoid disappointment.

Full tracking details will be sent to you as soon as your order has been dispatched.

All artworks are posted with tracking information and a signature may be required on delivery.

International Orders & Customs

All international orders are final once placed. Cancellations and refunds are not available after purchase. Each print is made to order by hand and shipped with great care.

Please note that any import duties, customs charges, or local taxes are the responsibility of the recipient. These fees vary by country and are not included in the purchase price. We recommend checking with your local customs office for details before ordering.

- - -

Will I need to pay customs fees?

All unframed and framed print orders are not affected by the recent postal changes in the USA and continue to ship tariff-free and without disruption. There are no customs fees for orders delivered to the UK, EU, or USA.

For some other international destinations, there is a small chance that local customs fees or import taxes may apply.

The only exception to the above is for 'Floating Frame' (very limited edition of 5) prints. These frames are handmade in the UK, and non-UK customers may be required to pay local import taxes upon delivery due to the nature and value of the frame.

All other framed prints remain tariff-free and import-tax-free internationally.

- - -

How will my order be packaged?

For the UK, EU, and the rest of the world (ROW), items up to 42cm on the long edge (A3 size) are sent flat in an envelope, while anything larger is shipped rolled in a tube. For the US, anything larger than 12"x16" will be sent in a tube. This policy helps ensure that items are shipped in the most appropriate and safe manner based on their size and destination.

- - -

Is the artwork hand-signed by the artist?

All the originals and select pieces of prints bear James's personal hand-signature, while others feature a digital signature. This includes limited edition and non-limited edition prints.

Why are these policies necessary?

These policies ensure fairness and clarity for all customers and reflect the realities of producing bespoke artwork at scale. Each order requires dedicated production time, materials, and careful handling, which begins immediately after purchase.
