Introducing James’s latest masterpiece born from collaboration with Battersea Power Station’s Lift 109 Experience, one of London's most iconic landmarks re-imagined in type-written form.
James embarked on a remarkable journey to create this piece, spending approximately three weeks in May 2023 meticulously typing from his 1960's Olympia SG3 typewriter. Positioned on-location atop the glass lift observation deck protruding from one of Battersea's chimneys, James was granted unique access to breath-taking panoramic views of the London skyline.
Containing over 1 million typed letters, numbers, and punctuation marks, this artwork is a testament to James's skill and dedication. While not quite matching the 6 million bricks used to construct the power station, hidden within the intricacies of the drawing are messages that pay homage to the building’s 83-year history.
This is a limited edition of 400 and each print measures 50.0 cm × 50.0 cm (19.7″ L × 19.7″ W) without frame, and 52.3 cm × 52.3 cm (20.6″ L × 20.6″ W) including frame, capturing the grandeur of Battersea Power Station in exquisite detail. Each drawing is appended with a certificate of authenticity.
We are thrilled to offer this artwork printed on high-quality, acid-free, archival German Etching Giclée paper from Hahnemühle, ensuring that every nuance and subtlety is faithfully reproduced.
