Introducing James’s latest original masterpiece born from collaboration with Battersea Power Station’s Lift 109 Experience, one of London's most iconic landmarks re-imagined in type-written form.
James embarked on a remarkable journey to create this piece, spending approximately three weeks in May 2023 meticulously typing from his 1960's Olympia SG3 typewriter. Positioned on-location atop the glass lift observation deck protruding from one of Battersea's chimneys, James was granted unique access to breath-taking panoramic views of the London skyline.
Containing over 1 million typed letters, numbers, and punctuation marks, this artwork is a testament to James's skill and dedication. While not quite matching the 6 million bricks used to construct the power station, hidden within the intricacies of the drawing are messages that pay homage to the building’s 83-year history.
This is the original artwork and measures 60cm x 60cm, although this artwork is framed with a window mount bring the outer dimensions to 76cm x 76cm.
Each drawing is appended with a certificate of authenticity.
