This portrait honours Phillis Wheatley, the first African American woman to publish a book of poetry. Enslaved as a child, her work defied expectations and broke barriers. Embedded within the artwork are subtle typed messages revealing her extraordinary intellect, the racial injustices she endured, and her quiet resilience. Each artwork is appended with a type-written certificate of authenticity.
